Emerald EyeCare Awards Scholarships to 3 Dublin Students

In May of 2006, Dr. Kathleen Murphy, owner of Emerald EyeCare, awarded three $500 scholarships to Dublin High School Seniors Elizabeth Luscher of Coffman,  Jessie Hwang of Scioto, and Jessica Kim of Jerome.  “We’ve been active in the Dublin community for years, but we just wanted to start something special this year with the scholarship program,” said Dr. Murphy.  “We want to encourage students who want to go into the health sciences and reward them for their scholastics and community service.”

Emerald EyeCare awards three scholarships each year – one for each of the Dublin High Schools.  Awards are evaluated by the Emerald EyeCare Doctors and staff and are based upon academics, community service, and a health science scholastic track in college.  120 students applied in 2006.  Applications can be acquired through guidance counselors in the high schools after January 1st.  Applications must be submitted by February 15th.

“We believe in our young people in Dublin and are glad that the Emerald EyeCare scholarship fund will help encourage them to pursue the health sciences in college,” concluded Dr. Murphy.
