Dublin High School Vision Screenings

All high school students are required to have vision screenings during their freshman year of school. This has posed a logistical nightmare for school health coordinators scheduling 400+ students at different times.

In 2001, Dr. Kathleen Murphy contacted the high schools with an idea to streamline the process. She would come in for one day at several of the schools and conduct the screenings – and at no charge! It didn’t take long for the schools to agree this was a good idea. Since the initial screening, Dr.’s Murphy, Wright, and Denny have volunteered to go to Dublin Coffman and Dublin Scioto schools to coordinate vision screenings.

“I think we all give what we have,” said Dr. Murphy. “In our case, vision care is what we give, and if we can serve to lighten the load of school administrators and provide necessary vision care, we are more than happy to do it.”

Pelotonia is an annual bike tour that supports year round grassroots fundraising for Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center – James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. 100% of all funds raised by Pelotonia directly support cancer research.

Beginning last year, Emerald EyeCare has been a supporter of Pelotonia. Emerald EyeCare has partnered with Maui Jim by donating a percentage of each rider’s purchase of Maui Jim sunglasses back into the rider’s fundraising account. Last year alone we donated over 2,000 dollars and expect to surpass that number this year. For more information about Pelotonia please visit
