Emerald EyeCare prepares for 1200 Vision Screenings at Dublin Schools

High school freshmen and 7th grade students are required to have vision screenings during their first semester at school.  This has posed a logistical nightmare for school health coordinators scheduling 400+ kids at different times.

In 2001, Dr. Kathleen Murphy contacted the high schools with an idea to streamline the process.  She would come in for one day at several of the schools and conduct the screenings – and at no charge!  It didn’t take long for the schools to agree this was a good idea.   So, for the last 6 years,
Dr. Murphy, Dr. Wright and the entire staff go to the schools to coordinate vision screenings.   They spend one day at each high school and often will visit one or two middle schools as well.

“I think we all give what we have,” said Dr. Murphy.  “In my case, vision care is what I give, and if I can serve to lighten the load of school administrators and provide necessary vision care, I am happy to do it.”

As summer winds down and school approaches, Emerald EyeCare is once again preparing its staff for five very busy days at the Dublin schools.
